Snow day

Hi strangers!  Just a little update about what’s been going on around here.  Today we are having a snow day, so no school!  While it’s fun and easy for us in south Georgia (well so far), I am really hating it for all that Atlanta is going through – long commutes yesterday, people stuck in cars, kids stuck at school…it’s just a mess!  I do hope they can work it all out today and be safe and warm in their homes tonight.

While they played outside…I worked on some Valentines for the girls’ classes.

Remember, last year when I said, next year I am doing something easy.  

 

Well, I couldn’t resist – these will turn into pins the kids can wear, I will show the finished product soon (hopefully).  But I have very strict instructions to not put “xoxo” or “love” or anything that may suggest that there is a possibility that whomever they are giving the Valentine to will remotely think they have any positive thoughts about them.  So I am thinking - “happy Valentine’s Day, from MJ (molly or mills).”  I think that’s safe.

I am working on some more professional looking photos for Sweet Em – In doing so, I have to make lots and lots of earrings.

Yes it’s almost April and while I am not a strong believer in “better late than never,” I thought maybe this will be helpful for next year!  We had close to 50 valentine’s to make this year and while I do love how these turned out, in hindsight those mickey mouse cards already put together with a sucker are looking pretty good for next year ;)

the stamp above, i found at Staples and am in love with it!  It’s a little time consuming with the tiny letters but so worth it when you are stamping 50 Valentine cards

 

  

Attach a little baggie with two different color conversation hearts (enough to play a tic tac toe game with).  I just stapled them to the paper.

 

I wrapped up a starbucks card with a little washi tape for the teachers

I helped with MJ’s Valentine party at school again this year and took only one picture:

We used the washi tape to tape down tic tac toe grids for the kids to play.

These past months have been a complete whirlwind!  We had spring break, Easter parties, Easter, field trips, field day, a new nephew (my 2nd one this year!) and more.  These girls keep me busy and as they get older my time to blog has dwindled.  But I am here now so let’s see some frames.  Then some of my favorite pictures over the last 2 months…

I love this frame:

 

I think mostly because it’s a mix of old and new (new wood, old wood with that great chipped paint from years ago, plus a touch of gold).  But it also reminds me of the color block craze going on and I am a total sucker for trends.  I mean how else would I know what I am supposed to wear ;)  (can you tell this is not arre typing)

Valentine’s Day Recap

I have never been a fan of Valentine’s Day – it’s the only holiday that exists that actually can make people feel bad.  But that all changed when I had kids – Valentine’s Day has a whole new meaning now – especially with girls.  They love to spend time preparing for something that requires pink hearts, pink glitter, chocolate and candy.  Every year I sign up for MJ’s Valentine’s Day party at school and this year – I helped with 2 other moms and think we pulled off a pretty good one.  And did you know that first graders really get into who likes who and crushes?!  I didn’t remember even noticing boys for a few years after that and even then I didn’t actually talk to them or look directly at them!  Now that I think about it, Jim’s pretty lucky I like him :)
