Kay Fuller Lighting

Happy Friday everyone!  I have something fun to share today - If you are local, you may have heard that my my mother-in-law - Kay Fuller, owner of Kay Fuller Interiors...has opened a lighting store.  Well, it opened last week and is amazing!  I will let the pictures do the talking, but if you are in the area - please stop by..you won't regret it!

The grand opening is Thursday, November 14th 4:00-6:00.  This will overlap Lancaster Village's Christmas open house (starts at 5) which is always so fun for the kids.. (and grown ups).  If you aren't familiar with the area, Lancaster Village is the cute little shopping area where Kay's interior store is located and now her lighting store as well.  They will have Santa and carriage rides, along with treats in every store you stop in.

But I am forewarning you, as soon as you step through the doors of Kay Fuller Lighting, it will make you want to change all the fixtures in your house.

the one above is my favorite

another favorite...

well, they are all my favorite...

And an added bonus - for the grand opening, I will be there (that's not the bonus) along with sweet em earrings all available for that time period (4-6)  for $10 per pair of earrings. (that IS the bonus) It will be a great time to grab some teacher Christmas gifts, Thanksgiving hostess gifts, or stocking stuffers while browsing for lighting.  Please join us for wine and hor d'oevres.  Hope to see you there :)

a little sparkle for your ears

Happy Friday!  I have been meaning to get these pictures up for some time now, but October has been a (surprisingly) crazy busy month.

021

I fell in love with this clay as soon as I saw it!  It has a tiny bit of sparkle to it.  See those white specks in the image above?  Well, they are actually bits of sparkle.  I loved it so much, I decided to add some white to it and offer another shade..

019

It came out to a really great blue/gray color (with a bit of sparkle).

049

Although there is apparently a deep navy involved (as the lighter version shows the blue) These appear black (as in the picture below).

 023

On another note, my 3 little sweet “em”s want in on this little venture.

029

MJ asked me to make some cards and add “little” to them along with changing the green to blue (her favorite color).  These pink earrings are her very first.

 032

Molly made some really cute balls too (not picture – pink with gold polk a dots).  Keep an eye out for them at Kay Fuller Interiors soon!   I am headed to Kay Fuller Interiors to drop these earrings off now!  Have a wonderful weekend and as always, please email me if you are interested in a purchase or just want to say hi ( shopsweetem(at)gmail(dot).com )

a birthday in the trees

053

Happy fall y'all!  The (somewhat) cooler temps make me so happy and so in the mood for an outdoor party.  The only problem - the ONE birthday in my (immediate) family that falls in this wonderful month is my husband’s (Jim) who declares every year he wants no party - to do nothing.  NOTHING.  For the 13 years that I have known him I have completely ignored this request. You see, I have a close to Christmas birthday - which I think we all can agree is the worst time to have a birthday - and have always wished my birthday was in October so I could celebrate properly, outdoors in the wonderful fall weather!  Jim has, in the years past, wished me a happy birthday on his day because whatever I had planned we both knew was really for me.

065

This year I decided to (sort of) honor his request.  He said he wanted nothing and he meant it.  So I kept it to the 5 of us, but had to take advantage of this weather.  I (along with the help of my mom who took over carpooling to soccer, dance, and drums that day) planned a dinner high up in a tree house.

 059
The girls had SO much fun with this.  It was a secret that they amazingly kept very well (other than lots of winking and giggling around Jim all week).

071

On his birthday morning, they gave him an invitation to arrive at the tree house at 6:45.  He looked at me suspiciously and I said, I promise!  It's just us.

The only problem with a secret birthday dinner is when you get a work call (Jim’s) that needs attention, he felt no need to hurry to get there so we waited…

074

had a little dance party

076

and he’s here!  MJ going to greet him with his favorite beverage

 082

This football was from Mills.  She found it under our bed and thought it was the perfect gift to wrap up!

 085

A success!  a perfect non party party.  After all, you only turn 37 once :)

Kids and etsy updated!

I think we are finally getting  into the swing of things.  As I mentioned before, my babies are all grown.  We now have one drop off place for school which really streamlines my days (that and an amazing neighbor that we carpool with!).

Here are the girls on the first day of school.  K4, 3rd, 1st.  We are so lucky to have amazing teachers that show so much love to these girls everyday.

Backtracking a bit - we went to the lake for Labor Day this year - above I am sporting sweet em's new neon pink disc (can purchase here). These are my current favorite!  As my wardrobe usually doesn't have a whole lot of color, I am loving the pop of color these add!  I also love that I can throw on a gray tshirt, put these earrings on and somehow feel dressed.

Did you know that the neon was inspired by MJ?  She the way I stay in touch with what people like...she may only be 8 but she is entirely more fashion forward than her mom.

And lastly, check out the sweet em shop on etsy... I am slowly weeding out the earrings I have fallen out of love with and adding those I do love.  You don't have to order from etsy!  You can email me at shopsweetem(at)gmail(dot)com. With the number you'd like below.  All of my earrings range from $10-$14.

xoxo, Kristen

p.s. don't forget to enter to win one of the pink earrings on sweet em's facebook page.

If you follow sweet em own facebook, you may have noticed a little color added.

What I love about making my own product is the constant change...I am weeding out styles I don't love and adding new ones weekly.

So to celebrate the new color...I am having a Facebook giveaway!  The winner will be chosen at random next Friday (9.20.13) and can select from their choice of a pink earring...

Your choices are:
-bars

-disc

-dangles

-hearts (gold dipped hearts also available but not pictured)

To enter: like the sweet em facebook page (if you haven't already) and leave comment on the Facebook post regarding the giveaway, with what earrings you will pick if chosen.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Kay Fuller Interiors

It feels a little funny for me to be writing a post entitled "Kay Fuller Interiors", but here I am :)  You see, while Arre and I do share the mother-in-law (Kay Fuller) who is the creative force (among other things) behind Kay Fuller Interiors (her interior design store she started 20+ years ago), I don't have the history with the store that Arre does.  Arre worked there long before she met her husband (Kays youngest son, the other one is mine) and I may be wrong, but i think it's where they met or at least got to know each other.  Her love of interior design has kept her in close contact with the store (well that and the fact that we are all now family) through the years.  But I am here to tell you that now Kay Fuller Interiors is carrying sweet em jewelry!

Family, or not, I feel honored to have my jewelry here.  Kay has such an eye for style and her store reflects that.

She has taught me a lot over the years.  When Jim and I moved into our first house she "helped" me decorate (as in did it all herself per my request because I honestly did not care what color the walls were and what fabric my pillows were in or even if I had pillows at all). I have come a long way but still rely on Kay and Arre for decorating advice.

While you are there, check out all the beautiful items KFI has to offer.  Many of her items are one of a kind finds.

She has recently started carrying baby gifts, and has always had wedding gifts, but now much more to offer!

It's definitely worth seeing and now you can grab your mom (sister, aunt, daughter, friend) or yourself some earrings as you browse.

And lastly, I will leave you with a snapshot of my home office. One (baby) step towards organization.
