smitten with smitten

smitten

I decided long ago, I would have 4 year pictures of all my kids done (my mom did the same and it's such a good age to capture..well, they all are good ages, but 4 is a big one!) So, of course, my thoughts immediately went to Smitten - a local photography company run by two fun girls that I've been waiting for an opportunity to use! Greta came over to the house and snapped a (ton) of pictures of an over-posing MJ and a few with her sisters. I was a little nervous about the results (not because of the lack of talent of photographers by any means!) but the subject they were working with! MJ definitely performed, but when it was over..she decided it was OVER. Anyway, can't thank you girls enough. The pictures are more than i could have asked for - Greta did an amazing job at capturing so many natural shots. check the pictures out here on their blog

thanks girls!

How cute is....

Laura Leigh!?

What better place for our frames to call home than Laura Leigh's island home. Not only has she been a great supporter of Stewart & James (as the bestest of friends would be ;)), but she just so happens to live on a really cool island. I wish I could go visit these frames (and her and her husband and her two adorable children) all the time. But I will just have to settle for pictures (as you will) for the time being....

love this frame... and the cute kid in it

i told you she was a great supporter! thanks LL!

sweet sleepers

Last Christmas, my parents gave me this baby monitor as a gift. At the time, I knew what it was for (the obvious)
-to be able to monitor my kids visually without going in the room
-make sure a whimpering baby didn't really need me
-hear a noise..wonder if a kid fell out of bed - quick check on screen and all is ok

really just for convenience...kids are upstairs. we're down. we needed it.

But today while kids are napping, i realized it's really for something way bigger and more important than all of the above. I am able to watch my kids sleeping...this is what i see

and after a day like this i need to look at these sweet sleeping faces and be reminded that...

(for molly)
even though you pooped on the floor today and i stepped in it...you still are a sweet innocent little girl
and even though you slapped your sister and drew ALL over your walls with a paint pen....how can you not want to kiss those peaceful cheeks
and you may have thrown your whole dinner on the floor and refused to eat...but really - who needs food when you are this adorable?

(for mills)
she's just sweet and i like looking at her - this contraption will come in handy when she turns on me in about a year.

(for mary james)
i took a camera out of her room once it seemed more like spying than monitoring..but after my new revelation...i may just add one back in there

I always wondered how my mom could recite this every morning to my little (hellion of a) sister (sorry kathryn but it's true) as she came down the stairs: "my doll baby angel, coming down from heaven!" and now i know...she must have been sneaking in her room and watching her sleep every night.

making me happy:

seeing sjp back in action as my favorite gal (looking fab.u.lous - in case such a thing needs to be pointed out)!

**********************************************************

making me sad:

seeing her the very next day (looking a bit like a spaz, but i digress)

and the next one. and realizing, yet again, that being plugged even just a little bit in to pop culture is going to reveal the sequel's entire plot one. photograph. at. a. time. *sigh*

how appropriate...

is this starbucks cup at our meeting this morning...

while arre & i aren't winning any awards on productive starbucks meetings, we did actually take a step in the right direction this morning (towards getting some marketing material) and did it in a timely fashion. :) have a lovely wednesday.

days like these

days like this

i really had to think hard about whether to post about this day or not. it's days like these that you don't tell your friends (or sister-in-laws) that are still debating the whole kid thing. but arre's been with me and my kids plenty enough to know these days exists. i'll give it to you in a list, then pour myself a glass of wine to celebrate this day being over. but not until every last one of them is tucked in and sound asleep.

this is it in a nutshell

one kid up...mills, this should be a nice pleasant day. make some coffee, second kid up - molly ... all's well. make her some bacon. 3rd kid up - something wrong and heeeere we go...

-poop
-uncontrollable..bug maybe?
-notice a different kind of bug - ants..they're back, but now in my bedroom (!!!!)
-yep uncontrollable - poop on rug
-try to salvage rug
-ants...try to tackle humanely..meanwhile
-molly says she pooed. Me:WHERE? molly: there - points to behind sofa?? yep, she ain't lyin'
-rolled up every decent rug in the house to avoid another disaster
-screaming on potty (another mess-mj)
-clogged toilet (rack brain for why...oh yeah. molly throws things in toilet and clogs regularly.)
-run sick kid to another toilet (this is mj by the way)
-mini breakdown (tried unsuccessfully to get mj to put on pullups)...rest outside 5 minutes with child screaming at door
-more screaming...by me this time..ants won't go away
-realize rug can't be saved...out the back door
-look at clock. it is... 10 a.m.
-stopped to thank mills for not contributing to the insanity
-took a deep breath and sprayed the shit out of the ants.

and that was just the beginning...
