though it is not feasible for everyone (myself included i've just realized), Tom's Shoes is issuing a movement for April 16. Shoeless for a day - I'm going to try!
*update: tomorrow is my sweeeeet grandfather's birthday and i totally didn't think about when i made the declaration i was going to try this that i would be lunching with him. and about 20 other people. in a restaurant. where i am guessing i wouldn't be allowed inside if i were in fact participating. i get it Tom, i get it.*
